The Brazilian winger is set to become the joint-fourth most expensive player in Premier League history.

In the course of events of the past few days, everything was somehow certain. All that was left was the official announcement. That is also done now. Manchester United has reached an agreement with his current club Ajax to bring Brazilian winger Antoni to the team.

Both clubs confirmed the matter in statements on Tuesday. According to the British press, the contract is for five years. There is an opportunity to extend the term for one more year.

According to the information provided by Ajax, United will initially spend 95 million euros to get this 22-year-old footballer. The amount can be up to 100 million Euros due to various fees.

He is set to become the joint-fourth highest-paid player in Premier League history. After joining Ajax from Brazilian club Sao Paulo in 2020, Anthony has played 82 matches for the team so far, scoring 25 goals and assisting 22. He played for the Dutch club under the coaching of current United coach Erik ten Haag.

United have long eyed Anthony to add new strength in attack. A few days ago, it was reported in the media that Ajax refused to let him go even though the club offered him a big sum. But later Antony himself said that he wants to leave the team to take on new challenges. Then the process of his change of party gained momentum.

He had a fantastic last season at Ajax. He scored 12 goals in 33 matches in all competitions and scored 10 for his teammates. He played an important role in the team’s third consecutive league title win. They also reached the last sixteen of the Champions League.

Anthony made his international debut for Brazil in October last year. This young man is able to break the opponent’s defense with speed and has scored 2 goals in 9 matches of the national team so far..

He is the fifth player to join United in this summer’s transfer window. Earlier, the club brought in his former teammate defender Lisandro Martinez from Ajax, Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro, Feyenoord full-back Tyrell Malacia and Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen on a free transfer.
